- Think about a particular topic and how it makes YOU feel, then immediately type it out. Having a rough draft or checking of spelling & grammar is illegal.
- Researching a topic is unnecessary, since its impossible for Internet Op-ed writers to be wrong.
- Be contrarian as possible, because having an opposing opinion is more important than having an educated one.
-If someone is offended it's either because; A)they don't share your ethnicity/gender/sexual preference/location/STD and therefore aren't allowed to comment on your work or B) they don't understand "satire".
-Use gratuitous amounts of swearing to show how edgy, original, & rebellious you are.
-Remember to talk about truly traumatic experiences like someone calling you stupid in a chat-room or having to wait two minutes longer then usual for your coffee.
-Title your article about one subject, then proceed to write about something completely unrelated. For example, title your article "Baseball" and then write about crayons.
-There is absolutely nothing more courageous than saying you don't like something that's currently popular.
-Have a Twitter/Facebook page so you can "debate" your critics by hurling ad hominems & insults at them.
-If all else fails, do a top ten list.

Childhood
When I think of my childhood I think of being alone and money being worth a lot of cents:
I was in first or second grade when I started setting my alarm clock for 630, waking up without hitting snooze, and running myself a bath. Afterwards I dressed myself in plaids and stripes and polka dots and went into the kitchen for a bowl of cereal which I ate while staring at my backyard or watching cartoons. On my way out to the end of the driveway to wait for the bus, I went into my mom's bedroom and gave her a kiss goodbye, as she continued to sleep.
When I got home my mom would tell me two things:
"I was scared to death – I thought I slept

Childhood Memories
Time became lost,
As i relived the memories flashing through my mind.
Wanting to explode from my mouth,
Poisonous words clawing up my throat, choking me.
The words i had practiced over and over again in front of the same mirror for years
It was dragged back down my throat,
Dissolving into the acid of my belly,
Never to be heard,
But by the ears of my screeching mind.
They could tell that they had gone over the line.
A simple question had been asked,
Then silence clung to the awkward room.
She realized her mistake
Concerned when signs of anguish showed in the flash of eyes
Quickly looking away,
My jaws clenching.
"So, tell us all about

Dear person reading this
Dear person reading this,
You deserve a full life of happiness
You deserve to be surrounded by people
who love and treasure you
People who genuinely care for you
Some days will drag you down
but you deserve to be content
No matter what happened
No matter what others tell you
You are not your past
Your flaws do not define you
Live to express
not to impress
Just live
Go for it.
